What is Microchanneling?

We are so pleased ( and excited) to offer Procell Therapies MicroChanneling with peptides, growth factors and stem cytokines!  MicroChanneling is microneedling… EVOLVED! It has become one of the most sought-after and talked about treatments in aesthetic skincare.

MicroChanneling creates tiny perforations in the skin that initiate a natural healing response. These perforations cause a healing cascade that produces new collagen and elastin resulting in firmer, healthier skin.  We combine this with our high potency Microchannel Delivery Solution & post care Cellular Renewal Serum and Healing Accelerator specifically formulated to trigger the collagen-producing cells in your body to go into overdrive and create permanent new healthy skin!

If you’ve ever heard of Micro-Needling, you may already be somewhat familiar with MicroChanneling. Think of them as close cousins with similar goals. MicroChanneling, however, offers a much more gentle approach to helping correct skin imperfections and rejuvenate your appearance. With its specially-formulated treatment, fast application times, and incredible results, MicroChanneling has quickly become a favorite among clients. Plus, its strategic approach helps to reduce trauma to the skin - unlike other skincare treatments!

WHAT IS MICROCHANNELING?

MicroChanneling is a non-invasive treatment designed to stimulate your body’s own natural ability to generate collagen, elastin, and other building blocks of healthy skin. By stimulating the outermost layers of the skin, MicroChanneling can help your body start this process without penetrating into living tissue. The MicroChanneling experience is very similar to that of Micro-Needling. Rather than rubbing into the skin with small needles, the ProCell device uses a vertical stamping design that gently creates microscopic channels and helps exfoliate the skin. This helps to reduce any inflammation or trauma to the skin while increasing the precision of the approach and, in turn, stimulates the cells beneath the skin that produce collagen and elastin. This treatment is combined with a bone marrow stem cell rejuvenating serum which helps boost the effects and accelerates results.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROCHANNELING & MICRO-NEEDLING?

Both MicroChanneling and Micro-Needling use a device to puncture the epidermis of the skin with fine needles, creating tiny micro-injuries. Each micro-injury creates a channel that triggers the body to heal these microscopic wounds, producing new collagen and elastin. In MicroChanneling, once the skin has these micro-injuries, a topical serum with stem cells/growth factors is applied to help accelerate results, enabling the product to reach deeper into the skin’s dermis and supplying the skin with nutrients it needs to boost regeneration.

MicroChanneling and Micro-Needling do, however, have key differences. These relate to the different way each device administers treatment. Micro-Needling typically uses a roller or handheld wand which glides across the skin. While this method is effective in causing the actual skin needling, it also can cause additional drag on the skin, and cause micro-tears. MicroChanneling, on the other hand, is like the next generation of Micro-Needling. Instead of pulling the device across the skin, the needles are precisely administered to the skin using a “stamp” type pattern – which doesn’t cause tearing or any additional trauma to the skin. Recovery time is accelerated, and the results? Well, we’ll let you be the judge of that.

WHAT SKIN CONDITIONS WILL THIS HELP WITH?

MicroChanneling is building in popularity among men and women alike, as it can help deliver results to clients of all ages and skin types. In fact, MicroChanneling can help reduce the appearance of many common skin concerns, including:

  • Age spots, fine lines and wrinkles

  • Scars and stretch marks

  • Acne

  • Premature signs of aging

  • Rosacea and similar discoloration

  • Visible, oversized pores

  • Hyperpigmentation

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Though neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen) can take several weeks, it is not abnormal to notice an improvement in the quality and appearance of your skin within the first 24 hours. After 2-3 treatments a thicker more robust, collagen filled cellular matrix will produce more consistent and noticeable improvement. Results may vary based on age, lifestyle choices & skin care routine.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of treatments necessary will range greatly depending on what we are treating. On average, for light anti-aging treatments, 1-2 treatments may be sufficient. For deeper wrinkles and acne scarring, 4-6 treatments may be required to achieve desired results. There is no limit to the number of treatments that one can receive as long as adequate time passes in-between each treatment (1 month). And as always, maintaining your investment with maintenance sessions is highly recommended.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?

If you have any underlying condition that significantly impairs your immune system, it is a good idea to avoid MicroChanneling. Examples include but are not limited to active radiation or chemotherapy, uncontrolled diabetes, chronic inflammatory skin disease (such as eczema, psoriasis, infection, rash or any type of dermatitis at the treatment site – it may further aggravate the condition), Accutane in the past 6 months, hemophilia or similar bleeding disorder. Also anyone with stainless steel allergies should not do this treatment. We also discourage treatments for those who are pregnant or nursing, have active Herpes Simplex in the treatment area (treatment is possible once the outbreak has healed, however, it may be advisable to take prescription strength antiviral medication to keep this condition in remission during treatment series.)

WHAT’S IN THE SERUM?

ProCell’s MD MicroChannel Delivery Serum contains bone marrow-derived growth factors in a hyaluronic acid suspension. Both of these elements are naturally-occurring in the human body. There are no human, animal, or plant cells, DNA, blood or any other foreign substances. The product has been used safely and effectively for over a decade.

DO I NEED TO USE THE MICROCHANNELING SOLUTION & AFTER CARE SERUMS?

YES! MicroChanneling stimulates keratinocytes in the skin to release growth factors that induce collagenesis. As you get older, these keratinocytes become less and less effective at this so the treatment on its own becomes less and less effective. Because of this the MicroChanneling solutions become more and more imperative as a client progresses in age. Using the aftercare serums as well will cause the skin to continue producing growth factors even while in-between treatments. Think of diet and exercise – MicroChanneling without serums is like exercising without dieting. Results will be good with MicroChanneling only, great with serums.

MICRO-CHANNELING AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • A sunburn-like effect is normal. The treated area may appear pink in color but will resolve in 24 hours. The skin may feel tight, dry, swollen, itchy, and sensitive to the touch. .

  • After Care Products and Regimen: Do not cleanse your face for the remainder of the day after the treatment. The following day you can cleanse the treated area gently with a gentle cleanser. Apply the Procell aftercare to the clean treated area in the morning and evening. You may also resume your daily skin regimen the next day avoiding Retin-A, Retinols and harsh chemicals and peels for 7 days.

  • Sun exposure must be avoided for at least 24 hours after your treatment. If you know you will get incidental sun exposure, i.e., driving to and from work, walking from your car to the house, etc., we recommend physical avoidance of the sun in all treated areas, wear a protective hat and a full spectrum sun block of SPF 30 or higher.

  • Do not use exfoliating medications, chemicals or products on the treated areas for at least 2 weeks.

  • Waxing and/or use of chemical depilatories must be avoided for 2 weeks after the treatment. Shaving is allowed 24 hours before treatment and 48-72 hours after treatment as long as there is no skin irritation.

  • Avoid exercise that causes sweating, jacuzzis, swimming, saunas or steam baths for 3 days.

  • Sleep on your back with your head elevated slightly to reduce swelling.

HOW QUICK IS THE RECOVERY TIME?

Generally, clients are able to return to their schedules with almost zero downtime. Skin may be red for a day, depending on skin sensitivity. You can return to work day-of if you need, and can apply mineral makeup within 90 minutes of treatment. Ideally, however, we recommend leaving your skin bare for the rest of the day of the treatment.
